EMERGENCY & ESSENTIAL NEEDS
Unexpected expenses can put a veteran or military family in a difficult position quickly.
Homeland Heroes Foundation may be able to help with food, gas, temporary lodging, utility needs, emergency financial situations, and other approved essential needs.

When You Need a Hand
Sometimes a single unexpected expense can create a much bigger problem.
A utility bill. A tank of gas. A short hotel stay. Groceries. A sudden household expense.
HHF may be able to help with approved essential needs depending on the situation, available resources, and the type of request.
If you are not sure whether your situation fits, submit a request and tell us what is going on.

Types of Help
Available assistance depends on the circumstances of the request and current HHF resources.
Help with groceries, food cards, or other approved food-related needs when available.
Help with gas or other approved transportation-related needs when available.
Short-term lodging assistance may be available in approved situations.
HHF may be able to help with approved utility-related needs depending on the situation and available resources.
Some urgent financial situations may qualify for assistance after review.
If the need does not fit one of these categories, explain the situation in the application. HHF may be able to help directly or connect you with another resource.
HHF reviews each request individually. Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance. The type of help available depends on eligibility, the specific need, available funding or resources, and whether HHF is able to provide that type of support.
If HHF cannot help directly, the team may be able to suggest another resource.
Eligibility
Homeland Heroes Foundation serves veterans, active-duty service members, and military families across New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont.
If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies, submit the assistance request and explain what is happening.
What to Expect
Complete the HHF Veteran Assistance form and select the type of help that best matches your situation.
Explain the need clearly and include any relevant details that help HHF understand the situation.
A member of the HHF team reviews the information and may contact you for clarification or additional documentation.
If HHF can assist, the team will explain what support may be available and what happens next. If HHF cannot assist directly, the team may suggest another resource when possible.
Documentation
HHF may ask for documentation to confirm military service and understand the request.
This may include military-service documentation such as a DD214 or military ID. Depending on the type of request, HHF may also ask for information related to the expense or need.
If you do not have a DD214 available, you can still submit the request. An HHF team member can let you know what other documentation may be accepted.
Not all of these are required for every request. Requirements vary depending on the type of assistance.
